Description

Try this chopped Italian sandwich recipe packed with meats, cheese, and zesty dressing. Easy to make, customizable, and perfect for any meal!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large hoagie roll or Italian sub roll (split)
  • 3 slices of Genoa salami
  • 3 slices of deli ham
  • 2 slices of mortadella or capicola
  • 2 slices of pepperoni
  • 2 slices of prosciutto (optional but flavorful)
  • ¼ cup shredded mozzarella
  • 2 slices of provolone cheese (chopped)
  • ½ cup shredded lettuce
  • ¼ red onion, finely sliced
  • ¼ cup banana peppers
  • ¼ cup chopped tomato
  • Optional: diced cucumber or green pepper

Dressing

  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Lay out all meats, cheeses, and vegetables on a cutting board.
  2. Use a large knife to chop everything together finely—like a chopped salad, but heartier.
  3. In a small bowl, combine mayo, red wine vinegar, olive oil, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Add salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper if you like heat.
  5. Toss the chopped mix with dressing in a large bowl until evenly coated.
  6. Fill your hoagie roll with the mixture generously.
  7. Press together slightly and slice in half for that signature Italian grinder look.
  8. Wrap tightly in foil or parchment and chill for 10 minutes for extra crunch.
