  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ tablespoons poppy seeds

Optional Lemon Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Zest for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line your baking pan with parchment.
  2. Soak poppy seeds in warm water for 15–20 minutes (this softens the texture and enhances flavor).

Batter Steps:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until smooth.
  2. Beat in the eggs, vanilla, lemon zest, and juice.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder, and poppy seeds.
  4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet until well incorporated (do not overmix).

Baking:

  1. Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
