Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (3.75 oz) sardines, drained
  • 2 slices of sourdough or rye bread, toasted
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 hard-boiled egg, sliced
  • 2 slices of tomato
  • 1/4 avocado, sliced
  • 1 tbsp diced red onions
  • Fresh parsley or dill for garnish
  • Salt & black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Mash & Mix the Base
  2. In a bowl, mash sardines with mayo, mustard, lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Assemble the Sandwich
  4. Spread sardine mix over toasted bread. Add tomato, egg, avocado, and onions.
  5. Top & Serve
  6. Garnish with fresh herbs. Add capers or hot sauce if desired. Serve open-faced or as a closed sandwich.
