Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (3.75 oz) sardines, drained
- 2 slices of sourdough or rye bread, toasted
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 hard-boiled egg, sliced
- 2 slices of tomato
- 1/4 avocado, sliced
- 1 tbsp diced red onions
- Fresh parsley or dill for garnish
- Salt & black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Mash & Mix the Base
- In a bowl, mash sardines with mayo, mustard, lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper.
- Assemble the Sandwich
- Spread sardine mix over toasted bread. Add tomato, egg, avocado, and onions.
- Top & Serve
- Garnish with fresh herbs. Add capers or hot sauce if desired. Serve open-faced or as a closed sandwich.
