Description
This slow cooker beef and potato gratin is creamy, cheesy, and full of flavor. A no-fuss, layered comfort meal perfect for busy weeknights.

- 1 ½ pounds ground beef (lean preferred)
- 6 medium russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned and no longer pink. Drain off any excess grease.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
- Grease the inside of your slow cooker with nonstick spray.
- Start with a layer of sliced potatoes at the bottom.
- Add a layer of cooked ground beef, then onions, then a handful of cheese.
- Spoon over a bit of the sauce mixture.
- Repeat layers (potatoes → beef → onions → cheese → sauce) until all ingredients are used, finishing with cheese on top.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 7 hours, or until potatoes are fork-tender and flavors have blended beautifully.
- Turn off heat and let it sit uncovered for about 10 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or chopped green onions if desired.
